Introduction

At present, non-communicable diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and brain stroke are widely prevailing in Bangladesh.

In the root of this problem lie lack of knowledge and awareness among common people about health and wide variety of superstitions regarding health and nutrition.

Researches proved that the majority of physical and brain development occurs by the age of three that lays the foundation of a child’s life long mental and social development. In order to support the realization of a child’s full potential, physical development is not enough, but needs to be accompanied by mental and social development. In Bangladesh, 11.6% of the people are in 0-4 year age group among them, only 14.6% of the children age 3-5 years are attending pre-school, of them 12% in urban area and rest 15% rural area. In fact no specific information about slums is found
