Health and education programs are implemented to achieve the aims of the organization. In addition, programmatic areas are Food Security, Environment, Livelihood and Disaster Risk Reduction.

COMMUNITY BASED NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES PROGRAMME (NCDP)
With the increased amount of urban population being affected by NCDs, to increase awareness and to make habitual change of the people of our country Eminence has started a pilot project in March 2006. To develop the programme activity and to design the project with community participation, a meeting was held on 27th May 2006 in with the community people and a baseline survey was carried out consecutively. Tin shed colony of Mirpur-13 and staff quarter of Mirpur-14 was primarily selected as project area. Total 274 known cases of diabetes and hypertension were identified from 5000 population. Primarily, a meeting was organized to develop a community based organization in Mirpur 14 project area including a 30 members committee to implement the programme as well as to inform about the objectives of project and the method of services. To ensure full fledged community participation two community volunteers were also selected from Mirpur 14 and they have been working with a minimum honorarium.  The service system is comprised of three models, such as; Satellite Camp, Home Visit and Awareness Building Campaign. In Satellite Camp’s there was a provision for blood glucose test, blood pressure monitoring and weight measurement for twice in a week, doctors visit once in a month and pharmacy camp twice a week. In Home Visits there were services including health education, blood pressure and weight measurement. In Awareness Building Campaign there was a walking rally once in a week, distribution of Awareness Building Leaflets once in a month, Awareness building speeches by the Imam and Muajjin of the local mosque once in a week, Community Participation Meeting once in a month. Recently, Eminence has extended its program at Mirpur 13 to the nearest slum, called Baisteki slum (both east and west) with 2000 population with its Awareness Building Activities. In this segment of the project the FWV’s sits for a satellite camp once a week to measure the blood pressure and weight of the slum dwellers and give them information regarding lifestyle modification. It is mentionable that the service provided in the slum area is totally free of cost.

WORK PLACE BASED NCD PREVENTION INTERVENTION:
Since January 2009 Eminence has initied to implement a ‘work place based NCD prevention intervention’ with the technical and financial support of World Health Organization, Bangladesh Country Ofiice and Bangladesh Garment Manufactorers and Exporteres Association (BGMEA). The aim of this programme is to prevent early onset of NCD and its risk factors among 12,000 garment workers working in six garment factories of Mirpur area situated in the lower socio demographic starta of Dhaka city.

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ECD)
Eminence has been working in health and development sector  for last three years in Bangladesh. As a member of Bangladesh ECD Network it has been implementing an Early Childhood Program (ECD) in urban area of Dhaka city for last one and half years with own fund. Before starting ECD centers a Community Need Assessment was conducted and CBOs was formulated by Eminence. Community volunteers, selected by community maintain the centers. Two ways supervision and monitoring systems are running in this program- one is community participation and another is regular supervision and monitoring.
